Big News.... I'm not perfect

I'm 24 this year.
Young Katt wanted to settle down at 24 because she wanted kids no later than 26.

I'm a waitress full time.
Young Katt would hate me. She was ambitious, full of drive. She wanted to work with children. Troubled children. A social worker or a special needs teacher.

Three years ago I dropped out of university.
University is not for everyone. If it is not for you do not worry. other career options do exist. Do not rush into going.
Which is what I did.

I have definitely not been me.
These two months off blogging I have reflected. Reflected a lot.

I don't think I've been myself truly for a long time.
At school I feel I merged with the people I hung around with, all most became them I guess.

 At college instead of growing I stayed with my small group of school friends.
 I then rushed into university hating the choices I had made.

So now I am 24 this year and looking at what I have achieved. I guess I'm prouder of my small steps.

I started my blog. Now it might not be big or fancy or regular but it's mine.

I went to my first blogger meet up. This took a lot as I didn't know anyone that was going.

I am proud that I got a new job in October 2015 proving I could do something different.

So I guess what I'm trying to say is we all wish these big dreams on ourselves, and sometimes they don't work out. It doesn't mean we have failed it just means we are heading for a different goal.

Hopefully now I have looked at me I can get back to blogging more regularly. Well as regular as possible.

Sorry this post was so deep. I just needed to let this out.

Gig Positivities for Negative people

 

So after my pet peeves I thought I would tell you why I love attending gigs and attend as many as I can each year.

 

Gigs normally mean New album release. I love listening to new music from bands. I love having new favourites and new lyrics to relate to.

 

The build up / countdown

I am that annoying person that will countdown to any concert. I will also try and find out everything I can about support acts and  the order they have played songs at other gigs.

 

The atmosphere

Those last minutes before the main act comes on and everyone is waiting for the band they love to start playing.

 

Your favourite song.

The moment your favourite song is played or the song you and your friend relate to or love the most starts playing. I love that moment. I love how it is changed and how live music may change the meaning or feeling of a song.

 

New people.

Meeting other fans. I like interacting with other people about how far they have come or their favourite song. At the gig I have just attended myself and Rich saw someone we saw at another gig in Cardiff in November.

                                                                      New parts of the country.
Gigs take you all over the country to different towns and cities. It's like a mini adventure. The travel to get there listening to the back catalogue of their repertoire, then the build up to the gig.

                                                                     Merchandise.
The discovering of a new band. The support act. This means a new CD and a new band to listen to and love .

                                                            Songs you never knew.
Hearing the band play songs that you have never heard. I enjoy this as hearing them live gives them life. The bands meaning and emotion and it gives you something to go away and listen to and think of.

                                                             The instruments/ chords
Rich plays the guitar and he always gazes admiringly at the array of instruments he will never be able to afford. He also watches them play certain songs that he has been learning to see if he has been learning them correctly.

                                                       Being able to tick bands off your list.
I love looking back at all the bands I have seen live and how I loved the gigs and experiences. I think the venues and the set lists affect the experience you have. Kings of Leon have been one of my favourite gigs. That was held at the Milton Keynes Bowl. That venue claims to hold 60,000 people.


                                        There we have it. 10 reasons why I love gigs.

Gig Negativities for positive people

 

 

 

 

This blog post came to me earlier this week as I was standing in the 02 academy in Birmingham waiting for a gig to start. I don't normally like writing negative posts but this is just a pet peeves blog.

Everybody has their own and here are some of mine just for gigs.

 

Queues

So they normally start outside then they reappear at the bar, oh and the toilet and again at the merch stands. I'm not the most patient person but I understand there are a lot of people wanting the same service.

 

Tall people

Now I'm being picky but if you are particularly tall the middle of the stage near the front is not the best place for you to stand. I'm 5 foot 7 and still struggle to see over tall people at gigs.

 

Lighting

Blue lighting is my pet hate when trying to get photos of the band it just plays with my phone; it hates it. Although if I'm just watching it doesn't annoy me.

 

Natural lighting and white lighting are better for photos.

Other lighting that annoys me at the gig is 5 people around you that constantly have their phones out texting or replying to emails or whatever they may be doing.

 

Small venues like the one in Birmingham seem to amp up the volume of the crowd. This meant another of my pet peeves were amplified. Talking through the acts. Now I know they may only be a support act but I don't want to know who is seeing who, I'd  rather listen to the  band.

 

'That couple'

That one couple that forget they are in the middle of a room of people and act like they are in the privacy of their own room.

 

The Drunk

I don't mean don't drink. I mean the drunk that is out of control has knocked your drink into you twice and looks like they are going to spew and it's only the support act on stage.

 

The Old school fans.

They have known the band since they played their first gig. The new stuff is okay but don't you know any of their old stuff? You're missing out!

 

Merchandise

When you take it home and realise that after a week it has become a very expensive piece of house clothing. The date plastered over it means a year on you definitely can't wear it out.

 

Tickets

So instead of postage and packaging we now print off the tickets meaning my keepsakes are now A4 and don't pin nicely to a corkboard like they used to.

 

Lastly Seating.

If standing runs out I tend to get the worse seat in the house. Behind the stage, or up in the rafters, or just out of eye shot of the screens.

My new craze

Brown lip craze

So recently I've been trying to break a rut. I seem to always gravitate to the same lip colours. So I'm pushing myself out of my comfort zone. Brown. This is the new colour I have been trying out.

Now I'm going to apologise now before you go any further. My lips have been horrible this week so swatches are on my hand. Please forgive me.

Rimmel lip liner in Tiramsu .

These lip liners are super soft and glide on and at £2.99 they are so affordable. I would describe  this as a soft brown I've only worn this twice both times on its own. I think this would look amazing teamed with a darker nude or a gloss on top.

                      Revlon matte balm in Fierce.

So this is a darker brown. I love my other revlon matte balm so when I saw they did a brown I grabbed it. I have braved wearing this three times and received compliments. As I'm pale I think it could wash me out but I love the formula and will keep on trying to wear it. 

Max factor 070 in Spicy.

 This has been my go to. This is an orangey brown that is so wearable. The bonus it doesn't budge eating drinking no problem. Apply the colour 60 seconds later apply the balm and your lipstick is locked all day and the colour is gorgeous. Yes it's a bit more expensive but the quality is so worth it.

                 Rimmel lipstick in Coffee shimmer

This lipstick is a moisturising formula and normally  I go for matte lipsticks. However, I am trying new colours so I thought I would try a new formula. This lipstick has a little bit of sparkle but I think this will be a great lipstick for day to evening looks.

Kiko Campus Idol range

                        Last month I attended Hull bloggers meet up where we were all gifted goody bags. To my surprise there were a lot of Kiko products in my goody bag. Kiko is a brand that I have wanted to try for a long time, their new range especially.

The new range is called campus Idol and screams American cheerleaders to me. The logo and colour scheme is cute and playful and eye catching.

What I received.

The first thing I noticed was the larger box which is a beautiful purple. This is Kikos  new face brush. No word of a lie this is the softest brush I have ever felt. The colours are bright and vibrant the orange handle and purple/pink tip stand out. I have been using this brush everyday to powder my face. Although we received this brush for free I can not see it on their Campus Idol range on their website.

                                Pump it up mascara volume and curl I know this mascara retails at £6.20

Now the packaging for the mascara I am not a huge fan of. the white chunky tube is always getting mucky, however the product I love. The first few times I tried the wand I wasn't sure about how to maximise the effects. The kind of 8 shaped wand is unusual. Now that I have grasped how to use the wand I see the effects of the mascara and actually love it. Normally I go for lengthening mascaras but this gives me lashes that are thick and black and stand out. Thank you Kiko.

I also received two urban sheen lipgloss. These retail at around £3.40.

I have only tried out the darker pink which is called Chic Geranium. the gloss itself feels smooth and applies easily from the crayon. the colour was buildable which I like as I don't normally wear bright pinks. These also have good staying power which is unusual for a gloss.

Hbmarchmeet Al porto hull

     I started blogging in June last year. In February I managed to grab a spot on a meet up - a place where I could meet bloggers that are based locally. This excited me a lot as I don't know many bloggers at all.


March the 5th soon flew round and I got ready for the event. The short straight forward trip to Hull  from Cleethorpes started with roadworks but the sun did shine for at least half the trip.

After navigating where Al porto in Hull was (I'm rubbish at directions) I came across a tall building on the estuary. That is when the nerves became apparent, although there was no need.

Arriving in the restaurant was beautiful and all the bloggers made me feel at ease straight away. I wasn't the only new face at the meet which was quite comforting.

In the main room there were two tables set with everyone's goody bags on their chair which were full to the brim. 

The tables had been thought out so new bloggers mixed with people who had been to lots of events and had experience, which I thought was a great idea.

After finding my seat and getting rid of my coat I joined the other bloggers in a snug like corner of the restaurant. The snug had comfy seating and lighting to set a chilled mood. Everyone was so friendly and interested in what I did and made me feel right at ease.

After a while we were sat at the tables, served drinks and talked in our tables until our food arrived. We had pre ordered our food as there were so many if us. I opted for the warm winter salad which looked as good as it tasted.

After eating we all had little questions to prompt conversation which I thought was a great idea as it meant conversation never stopped. Time flies when you're having fun as they say and a few people started to leave.

Our table decided we would have a peak in our goodie bags.

The event felt like a success for me. I had set out to find people with similar interests to me; I found plenty.

Unfortunately, one of the main organisers, Kat, was poorly but I hope she makes a speedy recovery. The other Hull girls Jenny, Alex and Chelsea were extremely helpful and lovely.

I just want to say a massive thanks to all the Hull bloggers. I will definitely be keeping in touch and looking out for more events.

Febuary Mayhem ... Catch up post

I have  dissappeared off the face of the earth this February.  I said in January that I was going to sit down and schedule  blog posts but I never did quite  find a time to  do that.

So what has happened this month.

Mum and myself got the keys to our new home. So fourteen years (the longest I have lived anywhere) worth of memories got packed up in boxes and moved over town. Luckily it wasn't a big move.

I am a waitress so I didn't celebrate valentines day on the 14th. Me and Rich did however have a lovely meal at Petit delight. Where I sampled frogs legs for the first time. I like trying new food.

I have been so excited for my first blogger meet. I am going to Hull on the 5th of March to meet some bloggers around 20 of them in fact. I am looking forward to this as I have been desperately trying to make more friends in the blogging community.

The rest of this month has been unpacking boxes working and adjusting to living the opposite end of town.

I am hoping now to stay on top of my blog. However I am not going to be so tough on myself if I have gaps. We all have lives outside our blogs.


Sorry for such an offloading blog hopefully it will go back to normal next week.
