LEEDS FESTIVAL 2015

This is my third year attending leeds festival. Leeds festival falls on August bank holiday and promises a great line up. This year the headliners are The Libertines, Mumford and sons and Metallica. There are many acts im looking forward to seeing this year some of which include Royal Blood, years and years, panic at the disco and All time low.

The line up complete

There are many lists online of what to take to a festival but i think everyone has specific that they will want.
I deffinitely believe in only carrying what you need as the fewer trips back to the car the better.

Essentials

My essentials for leeds are quite simple other than my tent sleeping bag and pillow i pack light.

Dry shampoo is my best friend. As well as giving my hair volume it keeps greasy hair at bay and smells great.

Chairs. These are essential for comfort and are really practical . Leeds fest is known for rain and mud chairs solve sitting on the muddy floor. These chairs also have helpful cup holders.

A coat and wellies. Although we all pray for sun in reality two out of three days there will be rain. This year i have chose this see through mac from quiz which i love as you can see what i am wearing still.

So this week i will be heading to the festival. Im really looking forward to it. If you have essentials for a festival or are going a long leave me a comment.

Until next time .....x

Denim Decisions

So with the weather a bit all over the place i have been loving denim whether that be shorts, jeans or even a jacket.

For a relaxed feel and a cooler day i always go for my boyfreind jeans.

Both of these are distressed which i love as i can dress up with shoes and a nice top or down with trainers and a jumper. Both of these pairs were also found in tesco clothing.

Skinny jeans i love high waisted skinny jeans i think they compliment my figure. At the moment i like rolling the bottom of the legs up and wearing with flats.

This pair of skinnies is a pair from tesco i really like white jeans in summer.

This playsuit from primark was a bargin but is also comfy to chuck on and style when the odd sunny day visits england.

The cute crochet around the bottom of the legs gives it a bit more length. This playsuit is also perfect for a festival.

Denim shorts

I love a lot of different styles of denim shorts. They are so easy to style. With tshirts or a plain white shirt to dress them up. The top pair are a new favourite a pair of mom shorts from new look the bottom pair are the Hallie shorts from topshop which i have styled before on my blog.

Denim jacket

The denim jacket is a great peice from spring all the way through to autum. With black skinnies or a cute summer dress this jacket is perfect. This specific jacket was off a stall in camden.

Thanks for reading this blog until next time ...x

Summer colours

With the warm days trying to push through i have been experimenting with my make up again trying to get that summer glow.

Three new items have been rotating in my make up routine. 3 blushers I just had to mention, all highstreet as well.

Collection -speedy blush-£3.99

02 -cheeky
This cream stick aplicator makes it easy to apply the blush straight to the apples of your cheeks. It is an easy blendable product (I use my fingers). The colour pay off is great and suits my pale skin.

Barry M- make me blush

Peach melba £4.49

This cream blush stick takes a little more work. The application is quite sheer but gives a lovely natural glow on a day where I am not wearing a lot of make up.

Bourjois Aqua blush- £8.99

1 pump

Cocoricorail

This liquid blush is my favourite of all 3. One pump gives an application to both cheeks. The product leaves a great colour pay off but also a lovely summer glow without glitter. Although it is quite expensive for a blush it is worth the money.

Just a quick little review to see what's new
Until next time ....x

Maccies to Michelin

The day didn't start so elegantly.

To celebrate a birthday Richard and I decided to do something a little different. As a couple we like new experience and good food. We decided to look for Michelin starred restaurants in the North of England.

The Pipe and Glass in South Dalton was a clear winner for us. We booked this table four weeks in advance of our trip. The reason we chose this restaurant was because it has an à la carte menu rather than a taster menu. This was not the case with many of the restaurants we looked in to.

                              The seasonal menu.

The specials board.

The bar.

The 15th century inn is owned by James Mackenzie. The open beams and exposed brick work gives the sense of a traditional English pub. The bar offers a range of drinks from a collection of cask ales to rare and fine wines.

After a drink and hors d'oeuvres in the bar we were shown through to the dining room. Here we were poured our wine; a bottle of 2011 Chianti. The wine list in the restaurant is categorised to each meat so helps customers pick their wine.

Shortly after we were seated, our starters arrived.

Rich chose the guinea fowl and ham hock ballotine with a scampi fritter pease pudding, air dried ham and pea shoots.

I chose the little jar of Gloucester old spot potted pork with an apple and crackling salad and warm spelt toast.
The generously sized starters were beautiful not only to the eye but to the palate. Every element tasted superb and when eaten together the overall flavour was sensational.

Afer the starters were removed, the mains were served.

Rich ordered duck three ways. Roast duck confit, duck bolangere and crispy duck heart. This was served with a celeriac puree, spring cabbage and pickled cherries sauce.  The highlight of this dish was the duck heart, which we had never tried before. The sauce also accompanied the dish perfectly.
I chose the fillet of turbot with sweetcorn fritter, samphire, cockle and sweetcorn chowder and lindsfarne oyster beignet. The turbot was seasoned to perfection. Although I wasn't too keen on the fritter, I enjoyed the meal overall.
                           The sweet and treat menu.

After all the amazing food, desserts were not needed but we decided to treat ourselves as the choices were plentiful.
Rich chose the Pipe and Glass chocolate plate, five reasons to love chocolate. Rich ate each element on its own but our favourite was the white chocolate crème brûlèe.

I chose the lemon posset with elderflower poached goosegogs, Yorkshire gin and tonic granita and juniper meringue. My favourite of these elements was the poached goosegogs.

To accompany the desserts we chose after dinner liquers. Richard chose the 23 year old single malt whiskey which was smooth and a perfect way to end a meal.
Flavoured macaroons.

The dining room was well spaced with tables far enough apart. The restaurant was inviting with lots to look at.

I would recommend The Pipe and Glass to anyone that is celebrating a special occasion or is looking for a great food experience. Even though it was a bit of a trek to get there, the food and drink is phenomenal. We will definitely visit again in the future.
